Bonaire is a small island located in the southern Caribbean known for its pioneering role in the preservation of nature, in particular the preservation of the marine environment, and for its excellent scuba diving, snorkeling, and windsurfing, among other things.

What's Not Included: Airfare, telephone, food, drinks, scuba equipment, rental vehicle fuel, airport departure tax of $35US/person, annual marine park fee of $10US/person for snorkelers.

Deposit Requirements: $300US at time of booking. Balance due August 15, 2009.

Cancellation Policy: Cancel 31 or more days prior to the trip receive a full refund less $300. Refunds for cancellations 30 days and less are dependent totally on spaces being filled by someone else prior to the trip going.

The Diving

Bonaire is a leader in Caribbean marine conservation, and the water's off of the island's surrounding coast have been declared a marine park.

Dive conditions around Bonaire are ideal-with moderate temperatures and high visibility. Most reefs remain pristine and untouched, and Bonaire's location in the arid southern Caribbean keeps the water free of silt.

Because the waters around Bonaire have been protected by an actively managed marine park for the past 25 years, Bonaire today ranks amongst the top four best diving destinations in the world.

Washington-Slagbaai National Park This pristine 13,500 acre natural park offers an excellent introduction to the landscape and vegetation of Bonaire. Covering almost one-fifth of the island, the park offers hills with scenic vistas, vast saline plains, beaches and trees filled with exotic birds. Animal life includes wild donkeys, goats and iguanas.

Kralendijk (pronounced 'Crawl-en-dike') This diminutive cluster of red tile roofs hugging the island's western coast is Bonaire's lively capital. Its Dutch colonial houses, the Museo Boneriano and Fort Oranje give a glimpse into the island's past, while the town's oceanfront promenade offers stunning sunset vistas and a fine prospect of Klein Bonaire. The main street is a browser's collection of dive shops, boutiques, arts and crafts galleries, restaurants and bars.
