PADI Course Director's are chosen by PADI to represent the highest instructor rating available in the PADI System. Due to their role in the diving industry, Course Directors are held to a higher accountability by PADI and the diving industry. Only PADI Course Directors teach and certify PADI Instructors, Specialty Instructors, Emergency First Response Instructors, and IDC Staff Instructors. PADI Instructor Development Course Information Sheet

Prerequisites:

Check these prerequisites carefully as they must be met prior to the start of the AI/OWSI/IDC

  • Certified as a PADI Divemaster, Assistant Instructor (for OWSI) or current instructor member in good standing with another recreational diver training organization for at least 6 months
  • PADI Emergency First Response CPR and First Aid (or equivalent rating) taken within the past 24 months. If equivalent rating is used, photocopies must be submitted prior to start date of IDC
  • Current Medical Statement signed by a physician within the past 12 months
  • Diving logbook with 60 logged dives and 6 months as a certified diver for the IDC. 100 logged dives for attendance at the IE.
  • Documentation of PADI Open Water, Advanced, and Rescue Diver certifications (or equivalent ratings). If equivalent rating is used, photocopies must be submitted prior to start date of IDC

In addition, each Candidate will need to have the

Other materials:

Slate and pencil (you will probably need at least 2)

  • Pen
  • Highlighter pen
  • Personal pool and open water dive equipment
